Welcome!

Welcome, to the blog of ItStartsWithA.

About Me

Hey there! I'm ItStartsWithA, and I see that you've come to the 'About Me' section of my blog. So let's get to it!

There are two versions of my 'About Me', as I'm a very complicated person (like everyone else in the world), and thought that I'd make a summarized version for those of you who are just looking for the basics.

Version 1

I'm your average teenage boy, so I'm fairly self-centered, enjoy breaking things, and catch myself flirting with the majority of the females I interact with. Woot!!! Other than that, I:
- love music, specifically Metal, Rock, Alternative and Pop Rock. I also play guitar, and sing in a band called The Contest. Check us out! http://www.myspace.com/thecontestband
- enjoy playing a multitude of sports.
- boycott meat and animal by-products that are produced in large, non-organic 'factory' farms.
- enjoy reading.
- am somewhat of a crazy environmentalist.
- plan on travelling to a developing country to work as a volunteer for at least a year after I receive my highschool diploma.
- like dogs.
- act.
- am unbelievably geeky. I play Dungeons and Dragons, have a collection of Magic: The Gathering cards, and have loved video games since the age of 3.

Version 2

Time for the long version!

Music

I am an avid listener of music in general. My favourite bands consist of Linkin Park AlexisonfireA Day to RememberEmeryGo RadioMayday ParadeMotion City SoundtrackThrice, and The Word Alive.

Here are two of my favourite songs, just to get a really good idea of what I like.

Sports

I enjoy playing a number of sports, some just for fun with my friends, and some competitively. The sports I like playing just for fun are soccer, basketball, tennis, touch/flag football, and golf. The sports I play competitively are volleyball and badminton, which I both play at school. My favourite sport, and the one I'm best at (what a coincidence!!), is badminton.

My Diet

I boycott meat and animal by-products (eggs, milk, cheese, etcetera) that are produced in large scale, 'factory' farms. In these farms, the animal's lives are full of pain and fear. However, I do support farms that raise their animals in an organic, near-natural setting. I don't see a big problem with raising animals on a farm until they're old enough to be killed and eaten by people, as long as they live lives that aren't full of constant pain and fear. That's the way I see it.

But I don't think that people who do eat meat from industrialized farms are evil people. I strongly believe that everyone should have there own personal beliefs and morals. This is simply one of mine.

Literature

Ever since I was a young boy, I've enjoyed reading. My favourite genre was always fantasy, books about dragons and magic.

I was such a cool kid.

Lately I've gotten into a whole bunch of different books, and at the moment, I can't say I have a favourite genre. However, my favourite book of all time is 'The Pillars of the Earth', by Ken Follett.

The Environment

I'm an environmentalist. I try to use as little energy as possible, recycle as much as I can, little things like that. Plus, I'm boycotting my driver's license, just to show that you don't need one to be happy. Call me crazy. I would.

The Future

I have no idea what I want to do when I grow up, but I do know a few things: I want to move to a developing country and volunteer, probably before I get any post-secondary education. I've always wanted to travel, and a little soul-searching while, say, building a school in Sierra Leone, would do me good.

And I want to fall in love, get married and have kids. Really badly.

I Like Dogs

... it's pretty self-explanatory.

This is my dog. His name in Nike. No, I did not choose the name. But he is awesome nonetheless.

Acting

In Grade 9, I took drama class for the first time, and fell in love with acting. Since then, I've played a Celtic teenager who loses his head to a Roman general, a Canadian teenager who loses his best friend to an immigrant, a servant of darkness, a lovestruck Englishman who dresses like a clown in a black and white film, and a man of the Victorian Age who scares his Dad by threatening to marry a swashbuckling business woman. Good times.

Geeky Awesomeness

I'm a classic geek, minus the Star Trek infatuation and the collection of comic books. I play tonnes of awesome geeky games with my friends, including Dungeons and Dragons and Magic: The Gathering. I also play lots of video games, and have a weak spot for anything with awesome dragons (I know the awesome is redundant, but I included it anyways), magic swords and flying carpets. Lord of the Rings and Star Wars are two of my favourite movie series. I'm more or less the definition of cool.

So that's a little bit about me!
